At About us: Unity Intervention for Refugees (UIR) is a non-profit organization is Refugee Led organization that was formed on 01 January 2019 with the aim to span social sustainability respite among the youth in Kakuma, through programs of 1.Education 2.Online Higher education 3. Psycho-social through Training to high competitors in their profession. What we do: 1. Education: • In education we have the following programs. A. Social and emotional Learning (SEL): • In the program, we train parents on positive parenting styles and Relationship between school and parents, teachers- We train community and Religious Leaders on their roles and responsibilities on child’s education support- We teach children the 5 core competencies of SEL which include the following: Self-awareness Self- management Social awareness Relationship skills Responsible decision making through child art Therapy. B. Peace education : • In this program, we train youths on knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary for fostering culture for peace in the Refugee and Host community. We also Train Youth on various methods of solving disputes in a nonviolence way. C. Adult English Training: • In this program we teach Adults communicative English Language that help them in their daily activities and interactions. The Topics and sub- topics include- Nouns, pronouns, Adjectives, Adverbs, verbs, Conjunctions, Interjections, Essay. Life skill Training: In this grogram, we train Youths on Hair dressing skills, Barbering or saloon skills, Business Creation skills and management skills. Livelihood : In this Program, we train Youth on permaculture Farming 4. Psycho-social support: We Train the community on how to manage emotions, stress, Trauma.
