Foundation large-scale AI models of human cells will open doors to revolutionary applications in healthcare and beyond. We'll transform treatments with highly specific, non-toxic therapies, unlock new methods to extend human lifespans, engineer tissues, and find cures for disorders that are currently beyond reach. We're not just looking at treating diseases; we're aiming to fundamentally understand and manipulate life's building blocks. Transcriptome, a snapshot of gene expression in a cell indicating which genes are active and to what extent, is the most pragmatic language for building digital models of cells, due to breakthroughs in experimental protocols, such as single-cell RNA sequencing, spatially resolved transcriptomics, perturb-seq, and lineage tracing. We're developing an end-to-end framework focused on predicting the changes in transcriptome of human cells. These models will improve our ability to predict the outcomes of therapeutic interventions in-silico, substantially raising the probability of success of in-vivo experiments and potentially saving trillions of dollars annually.
