Unsilenced Voices' objective is to provide shelter and relief for victims of domestic abuse and sexual gender based violence worldwide. The 501(c)3 non profit organization is currently operating in Ghana and Sierra Leone. Presently there are few, if any shelters or vocational centers protecting and educating women and girls about their rights. Unsilenced Voices is working with our partners to implement shelters, sensitization programs, legal assistance, vocational training, medical and counseling to women and girls in both countries. In collaboration with Unsilenced Voices six partners, we encourage the women to speak up about what is happening to them, breaking the cultural belief to keep silent. By educating the public about abuse laws, we begin to shift the cultural mentality to keep silent. Those who are abused see the shelters as safe havens not only for their security and protection, but also as a source of empowerment for them in the face of fighting for their rights.
