Uoa Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Adelaide is the second oldest in Australia and has graduated more than undergraduates and hundreds of postgraduates since its founding in 1947 following the appointment of Dr E. C. R. Spooner to the University Chair in Mining and Metallurgy. Today the School offers a range of undergraduate degrees fully accredited by Engineering Australia and the IChemE in addition to higher degrees by course work and research, including the PhD. The School offers four undergraduate degree programmes – Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical), Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical – Sustainable Energy), Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical – Minerals Processing) and Bachelor of Engineering (Pharmaceutical) – that can be combined with other programs to achieve double or combined degrees with Arts, Sciences, Biotechnology, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Finance or Economics. The single degrees are four year programs fulltime, whilst the double/combined degrees require five years of study fulltime. The School also offers a postgraduate Masters by coursework program in chemical engineering. This is a two-year fulltime program, but part or all of the first year can be waived depending on your prior learning and qualifications. The School also offers higher degrees by research (HDR), including the MPhil and PhD degrees. When undertaking these HDR degrees, students are part of a vibrant and dynamic research team that undertakes cutting-edge research of both fundamental and applied natures in five main areas: Nano & Materials Engineering, Bio & Pharmaceutical Engineering, White Biotechnology, Fluid Mechanics & Microfluidics, and Clean & Sustainable Engineering.The staff of the school are members of the Bio & Nanoengineering Faculty Research Group, the University Centre for Energy Technology, and the University Centre for Appled Nanomaterials.
