Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust

Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) is a national level non-governmental organization, with a focus on social and economic empowerment of young adults (10 to 24 years). In December 1990, Dr UNB Rao and family suffered the tragic death of their only son (URIVI VIKRAM), in a road accident. Instead of grieving, Rao couple chose to dedicate themselves to the national cause by establishing UVCT. UVCT’S motto is to find ways and means for transforming India’s ‘Burden of Population’ into an Asset of Human Resources’, as a relevant task for the development of India! The trust has played a pioneering role in obtaining a distinct status for ‘Adolescents’ in the Indian planning system. Established as the first ever National Centre for Adolescent in New Delhi, it focuses on a wide range of adolescent centric issues including Life Skill Education. UVCT plays a remarkable role in empowering adolescents from marginalized section of the society through education, health facilities and vocational training. UVCT has undertaken projects for women empowerment and awareness campaigns, and reformation/rehabilitation of delinquents. UVCT has a pan-India presence, with Chapters in Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra besides a Chapter in the USA -through Government Schemes, UN Organisations, PSUs and individual donors. There is a strong resolve to serve more and more people, but limitations exist due to shortage of funds. UVCT is known for its innovative approach for social development. So far, Dr Rao and his team of UVCT succeeded in making a difference in the lives of more than 5 lakh individuals.
