V Roque Corporation

V. Roque Corporation (VRC) started out in 1964 as a cottage industry making wooden furniture. In the late sixties, it began to make wooden television cabinets for manufacturers of electronic appliances. It vigorously expanded in this venture and eventually became the largest manufacturer of wooden cabinets in the Philippines. This growth was followed by a complete turn around in the business, as a reduction in the size of cabinet models became a trend and, suddenly, the demand for wooden cabinets declined. The company, however, was blessed with a founder and president whose ingenuity and business acumen has been proven the manufacturing industry. Mr. Virgilio C. Roque pioneered the introduction and manufacture of modular and built-in cabinets, vanities and bedroom closets along European and American designs and incorporated all the advanced hardware fittings of the late seventies. Realizing that the unstable local market could not sustain the company, Mr. Roque turned to export and, in 1984, started to export fireplace mantels to the United States. In 1986, the company started a production line for doors. Special machines were installed to augment existing machines and the whole manufacturing process was reorganized to ensure the swift flow of production. Since then, VRC has become one of the leading manufacturers of doors in Southeast Asia and exports a large part of its output to Europe and the United States.
