Variz

VARIZ.ORG is a Portuguese PROMOTER and RECORD LABEL based on both poles of the Lisbon-Porto axis since 2001, operating in the grey area between abstraction and the dancefloor. Its aim is to bring the newest generation of Portuguese media-art projects and producers into acknowledgement by a wider audience. Promoter of many concerts by some international artists in Portugal, including: Above Smoke, Akufen, Andy Vaz, Andrew Poppy & Bernardo Devlin, BodyCode, Bruno Pronsato, Cluster, Curd Duca, Cylob, Discopunk, DJ Sprinkles aka Terre Thaemlitz, Fennesz, Frank Bretschneider, Ikue Mori, Jakob Kirkegaard, James Warren, Jerry the Cat, Kaneng Lolang, Kim Cascone, Lump, Neoangin, Nova Huta, Oriol Rossell, Omar Léon, Pete Herbert, Portable, Popnoname, Safety Scissors, Sebastian Meissner (Bizz Circuits and Random_Inc), Sutekh, The Activator. Co-produced the multidisciplinary project SuperStereo Demonstration, which occurred in 2002 at ZDB Gallery and in 2005 at Linhares of Beira medieval castle. Also curated the music program of two editions of the Número-Projecta festival and the first edition of VilaTone - Vilamoura Mixed Media and Music Festival The label’s roster (10 releases) includes: Alagoa,@C, Migso, Lolly and Brains, Nova Huta, Projecto Fuzível, Tam and it has welcome contributions from the following visual artists: Alexandre Alagôa, Alexandre Estrela, Lia, Miguel Soares, Dora Sousa Santos, Luís Alegre, Miguel Sá and Rev Design.
