Vashon Ace Hardware: The Helpful Place! In October 1977 long time islanders Al and Laura Snyder opened Vashon Ace Hardware. The original store encompassed about square feet of the space within the current building. Over the years additions and remodels have increased the size of the store to the current space of approximately square feet. The Ace Service Center was purchased in 1996 and it adds another square feet of Outdoor Power Equipment and Rental items. In October of 2001 Doug Snyder and John Yates purchased the business from AI and Laura.
