Vasikana Vedande

Vasikana veDande is an agricultural business venture co-founded by four girls. Our name is of the Shona language, literally meaning Girls from Dande. Figuratively, the name also symbolizes us going back to our roots, home and origins, in reference to Oliver Mtukudzi’s internationally acclaimed, “Dzoka uyamwe” where the repetition of “ndafunga Dande” communicates one thinking of their home and origins. We are currently majoring in horticulture, while working on expanding our operations into the fields of apiculture, aquaculture and animal husbandry, to have integrated projects concurrently running. In line with sustainable development, we aim to ensure that our economic growth and contribution to food security exercises environmental stewardship, while attaining social justice and adhering to international best practices. To achieve our vision of geographically expanding, as well as professionally growing in climate smart agriculture, we have harnessed our varying skill sets and qualifications in the complimentary and professional running of this venture. We have Tsitsi, holding a Masters in Safety, Health and Environmental Management; Bridget, currently an Executive Masters in Business Administration student; Tsitsi, who recently finished her Honors in Human Resources and Tinovimba an Agronomy student.
