Victor C. Young, a social entrepreneur and nonprofit leader, brings over 40 years of experience in education, community development, and philanthropy. His cross-sector expertise spans the US, Puerto Rico, Europe, and West Africa, covering program management and evaluation, complex social collaboration, strategy, policy formation, and finance. Notable achievements: Provided technical support to large, cross-sector collaboratives across the U.S. for the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations for over a decade. Founded Cornerstone Literacy to advance the application of the science of reading. Co-authored Ohio's Education Commission Report, introducing higher math and literacy proficiency graduation standards Led the Stark Education Partnership, pioneering preK-16 education collaboratives, securing millions in funding from NSF and through local campaigns. Launched St. Philip's Academy in Newark NJ, now Philip's Academy Charter Schools, successfully preparing underserved children for rigorous secondary school and higher education participation Victor chaired the Council on Foundation's Pre-collegiate Education affinity group and co-founded Grantmakers for Education. He influenced teacher policy in California through his founding work with the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning, now at WestEd. As Director of ALL4SC at the University of South Carolina, he advocates equitable, family-focused community schooling and evidence-based reading outcomes. He serves KnowledgeWorks as Board Chair, and on the boards of the Charleston Literary Festival and SC Broadband Advisory Council. Victor's educational journey includes degrees from St. Paul's School, the University of Pennsylvania (BSc Mechanical Engineering), and Harvard University (Ed.M. and doctoral studies).
