VegasMD was born out of a concern for patient health and safety. Visits to primary care physicians and patient adherence to medication plans are at record lows. According to a 2018 report from the Health Cost Institute, from 2012 to 2016, visits to primary care physicians dropped as much as 18% among employer-insured individuals ages 65 and younger. This decrease is only partially offset by the increase in people choosing to visit physician assistants and nurse practitioners, meaning some individuals are choosing to forgo medical care. Additionally, the CDC estimates that 50% of patients do not take their medication as prescribed. These numbers only grow worse when looking at patients with chronic conditions—an estimated deaths per year are the result of non-adherence to the patient’s medication plan. After six months of treatment, the majority of patients with chronic conditions reduce their own dosage or stop taking their medication altogether. With this background in mind, VegasMD is setting out to create a convenient healthcare environment that offers treatment and pharmacy services in the same facility. Our goal is to provide care that creates better compliance with treatment plans and better outcomes for our patients. We plan to offer primary care, infusion care, behavioral healthcare, psychiatry, and pharmacy services. With state-of-the-art ultrasound and lab technology, as well as infusion rooms, we will be able to offer a wide variety of services in one location. Our first Las Vegas location will be open late and on Saturdays, providing the convenience of care necessary for working patients.
