The Venus Behind Venus Over Water As a trained architect who designs buildings by day, Lucia uses that same structured sensibility when building her ultra-chic and comfortable clothing by night. Having grown up abroad in the culturally rich country of Ghana, Lucia has stayed true to her roots and has brought the traditions and aesthetic of Africa into her creations. Though she received her architectural degree from Parsons School of Design, where she really learned to sew was from the tutelage of her mother as a young child, her first models were paper dolls. In 2012, Lucia made her first dress and launched V/W. Her line now includes jackets, dresses and tops. To this day, every piece of fabric is hand-picked, and imported from Ghana. For Lucia, honoring her heritage and bringing a piece of Africa to New York not only embodies her brand, but also her roots. Venus Over Water is designed and hand-sewn in New York City.
