Verge provides educational consulting services for schools and families. FOR SCHOOLS Verge can help grow your organization's capacity to serve all students well. Patti Hearn and her co-trainers help schools and other youth-serving organizations expand their knowledge and practices. Their work includes helping schools providing context and rationale for equity, inclusion, and belonging work, practical solutions for curriculum design and alignment; long-term planning (for classroom teachers, administrators, and boards); parent education, and a judgment-free space to ask questions. Services include: Program Design DEI Work Organizational Development FOR FAMILIES For parents seeking the right school for their child, Verge offers expert admissions counseling. Services are customizable and range for surveying the school landscape, guidance through the admissions process, and support for decision making. As the Head of School at Lake Washington Girls Middle School and at Seattle School for Boys, she has reviewed thousands of applications from public, independent, faith-based, and home school students; she has a strong sense of what helps an applicant stand out and how to know if the school will be a good match for a student. In addition, she has supported eighth grade students in their applications and counseled families through the high school application and decision process. Students she has worked with have been accepted to a broad range of area schools. In the past few years, she has also coached high school seniors writing essays and preparing video submissions for college applications. The four children in Patti’s house have attended, collectively, two public and five independent schools, in addition to some wonderful pre-schools. She has gained a deep understanding of how overwhelming the admissions landscape can be for families at each of those levels, and she is committed to making that path easier for others.
