VERMILION HERITAGE FOUNDATION is the 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that owns, operates, and continues to restore the Historic Fischer Theatre in Downtown Danville, Illinois - one of America's oldest theatres. The Fischer Theatre originally opened its doors on November, 5 1884 as the Grand Opera House. Through its long history it transitioned with the times through Vaudeville and then on to becoming one of America’s great movie palaces until it was abandoned in 1981 and left for the wrecking ball. After decades of work to preserve the once glorious landmark, the generosity of a local philanthropist restored the Fischer enough to open its doors once again on September 21, 2019 - the Lady waits no longer…
