Wine has been produced on the territory of Romania for at least years and it is claimed by some sources from antiquity as the birthplace of the Greek wine god Dionysus. Following foreign investments in the Romanian wine industry and the introduction of higher quality genetic material and technology, Romanian wines are making a comeback in recent years. Between 2011 and 2014 Romania has increased wine production by 26%, the highest of the world’s top 15 wine producing countries.
