Vmed, recently acquired by the Liberty Health Holdings Group, specialises in providing cost-efficient administration to medical schemes, private health insurers, health maintenance organisations, corporates, multi-nationals and Governments, both within South Africa and other global emerging markets. The Vmed model is based on full back-office functionality and concentrated client-facing front-office functionality through which an integrated approach to administration and managed care services is provided to the client. This model differs from those already known within the health arena, in that it provides back-office efficiencies through scale and improved customer service through focused front-offices. Both the back and front offices leverage off the Medware IT platform - a medical aid administration system, under licence from Neil Harvey and Associates. Medware is an industry leader that supports a number of administrators representing 1.8 million members.
