At Waatavaran Foundation, we believe that protecting our planet starts with protecting the bond between people and nature. Our work is rooted in the idea that humans and the environment share a symbiotic relationship, and by caring for one, we nurture the other. We walk alongside vulnerable communities—tribal families, women, and marginalized groups—helping them adapt to the challenges of climate change and build resilience. This takes many forms: supporting villages in securing Community Forest Resources so they can manage forests sustainably; enabling women’s groups to earn through forest-based livelihoods; or guiding farmers towards organic and climate-smart practices that protect soil and improve incomes. Beyond the forests and farms, we also work in cities—promoting clean air initiatives, and sustainable mobility, and helping citizens reimagine healthier, greener urban living. And through biodiversity documentation projects and youth programs, we ensure that traditional knowledge and ecological wisdom are not lost, but celebrated and passed on. For us, every step is about more than conservation—it’s about dignity, justice, and giving communities the tools to thrive while keeping our shared planet alive.
