Wall Street Juniors (WSJ) works towards helping individuals in underserved communities bind an understanding of financial literacy and community sustainability. WSJ has 4 key areas: COMMUNITY – We are dedicated to developing stronger and sustainable communities of all ages one by one. ECONOMICS – Wealth starts with knowledge. Financial literacy is essential for financial freedom. Our study of behavioral economics and applied approach involves teaching the combined importance and influence of knowledge and positive financial behaviors. EQUITY – It is our duty to serve our community based on their specific needs to enrich all possible opportunities towards growth and development. YOUTH – We are invested in applying the "bottom-up" approach when it comes to focusing on our youth creating generational wealth and establishing leadership skills to build sustainable futures. WSJ was founded in 2018 in Durham, NC. Our organization is geared towards teaching financial literacy while improving community development through the power of equity with the efforts to establish community sustainability and generational wealth. Over the years WSJ has worked towards creating future generational leaders who will be prepared to live financially stable lives in the next 5-10 years. This mission comes from our preparation programs that surround our generational wealth and “after high-school readiness” concept for youth. The skills that we have focused on over the past four years are workforce development, business planning and development, personal finance and community sustainability. The variety of skills have been taught during our in-person and virtual training sessions consisting of apprenticeship, internships, summer-jobs and work-based learning. Our hand-on approach is geared towards giving individuals both young and old a chance to explore different opportunities to spark ideas for the future.
