Way Everything Connects Foundation

The WAY–Everything Connects (WAY-EC) Foundation is a dynamic social enterprise that was born out of friendship, shared passion, and a vision to make sustainability not just a responsibility, but an exciting and creative way of life. Founded in 2009 by Wricha Johari and Prakshal Mehta, WAY-EC grew from late-night conversations into a powerful change agency that addresses some of the world’s biggest challenges through innovation, community engagement, and design-driven solutions. At its heart lies the belief that everything in our world is interconnected—people, nature, and the choices we make—and that sustainability must be celebrated rather than seen as sacrifice. Over the past 14 years, WAY-EC has conceptualized and implemented pioneering initiatives that combine education, communication, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Its flagship programs include PenPals, the world’s first initiative to upcycle waste plastic pens; Hara Pitara, one of India’s largest green flea markets promoting eco-friendly and locally made products; India Environment Festival, a national platform to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the environment; and Free the Trees, a public movement for urban tree protection. Through such innovative models, the foundation has empowered eco-entrepreneurs, mobilized communities, designed impactful campaigns, and worked with schools, corporates, NGOs, and governments to bring sustainability into mainstream conversations. Today, the WAY-EC Foundation directly contributes to 12 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and continues to inspire behavioral change across diverse sectors. Proudly recognized globally—through awards, media coverage, and leadership recognition by platforms like the World Economic Forum and UNICEF—WAY-EC stands as both a believer and a doer, demonstrating that with creativity, collaboration, and conviction, a better world is not only possible but within reach.
