Weingut Am Berg
We like to keep things simple - so we have a small (and friendly!) team. A small team means everyone can be fully involved in the winemaking from start to finish. It’s just two brothers Micheal, Ludwig junior, mother Melitta, father Ludwig and our unique grandmother. We have to deal with three types of soil (bedrock – “Urgestein”, loess and clay) and with a climate that is probably to be found in this constellation only in a few places on Earth. Typical of the around 200 (in Langenlois) to 450 (in Mittelberg) metres high valley, there are hot days and cool nights in the summer and long sunny periods in autumn. These contrasting conditions give the Kamptal wines their unparalleled, crystal-clear, mineral character. Our idea is to craft wines that are textural, complex and food friendy. To do this, we take grapes from a handful of specially selected vineyard sites around Mittelberg and Langenlois, each of which contribute different flavours and aromas to the wine. The resulting wine gives complexity and depth to our wines. We want to show with our wines the unique terroir of the Kamptal.
