West Africa Centre For Peace Studies Wacps

West Africa Centre for Peace Studies (WACPS), an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research and advocacy-based and policy focused organization, based in Accra, Ghana, was founded in 2004 by Africans from diverse professional backgrounds dedicated to the promotion of democracy, good governance, peace, human rights, justice and development in West, Central and East Africa. The Centre provides research, training and advocacy support in its aim to enhance peace and human development initiatives at all levels in the region in particular and Africa as a whole. In line with the aims and objective of WACPS, to advance knowledge by combining research advocacy education and study of peace through the spreading of idea of peace in the spirit of ECOWAS, AU, EU, UNESCO and UN peace by peaceful means and give a scientific and educational support to peace building and conflict transformation, resolution in Africa; promoting a ‘world domestic policy’ based on sustainable development – cooperative responsibility and ecological security. Also, to contribute to the development of a global peace culture and human security as well as to train and improve individual, group and community capabilities in peace making and conflict resolution and to research and keep records of human rights, development, diplomacy, peace and conflict related information (in the form of library, museum etc) and peace (through) entertainment (music, dancing and concert, sport etc).
