Weweremonkeys

WeWereMonkeys is an award-winning creative studio founded by Marcella Moser and Mihai Wilson that specializes in narrative-driven digital media. Founded in 2008, WeWereMonkeys began with a stop-motion experiment and unexpectedly grew into a boutique production studio internationally recognized for its distinctive storytelling and visual aesthetics. Their body of work has received multiple Juno and MTV nominations, been featured at international film and digital arts festivals including Ars Electronica and ACM SIGGRAPH, and reached audiences worldwide with over one billion impressions. In 2023, the duo shifted their creative focus toward interactive digital media, combining Mihai’s long-standing passion for video games with Marcella’s drive for innovation. They taught themselves game design and programming and are developing their first video game. With deep respect for the land that supports their creative work, WeWereMonkeys operates in Vernon, British Columbia, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan people.
