Whakapapa Foundation

We are a non profit grassroots organization dedicated towards empowering underprivileged youth through amateur boxing. At Whakapapa, we believe that sports, specifically Amateur Boxing, could bring a greater change in underprivileged sections of society. Hence we are not only committed to nurturing young athletes but also to opening doors to better education and employment opportunities through the sports quota. More importantly, we guide these children towards a disciplined lifestyle, away from the perils of drug and alcohol abuse. Towards that, we are working closely with a slum-based boxing club in Chintadripet, Chennai that trains underprivileged kids in Amateur Boxing. Through our continuous support covering coaching, equipment, infrastructure, nutrition, and tournament participation, these talented youngsters have clinched Gold medals at the State level and 4 medals (1 Gold and 3 Bronze) at the National level – all within just four years and being solely funded by friends and family.
