Wheatgrass Depot is an Ann Arbor-based company offering USDA-certified organic wheatgrass, sunflower greens, and pea greens at near-wholesale prices via local distributors, called HUBs.Wheatgrass Depot partners with these HUBs for fast, efficient delivery. Inspired by his small-town Michigan upbringing, Fromhold believes strongly in the value of cooperation. HUBs benefit from increased customer traffic, goodwill, profit sharing, and the ability to develop stronger relationships with their customers. Wheatgrass Depot further strengthens these relationships via its “supporters.” Supporters are businesses that share similar ideals but do not meet the HUB criteria (e.g, cold storage, ample parking, and convent hours). Examples of supporters include but are not limited to yoga studios, chiropractors, weight-loss centers, local farmers, gyms, and health practitioners. Supporters also benefit from profit sharing and goodwill. Wheatgrass Depot also strives for mutual benefit with all our partners through joint marketing via social media and fliers. In addition to strengthening local businesses, Wheatgrass Depot’s business model allows for delivery of the freshest possible products, as if our customers had just harvested wheatgrass and sprouts from their own greenhouses. Upon receiving an order, Wheatgrass Depot uses its proprietary software to guarantee delivery of the customer’s products to a local HUB within 24 hours of harvest. The system also maintains the cold storage chain (which optimizes the product’s shelf life).
