Whitchurch Silk Mill
Whitchurch Silk Mill is a gem of industrial heritage in rural Hampshire, on the banks of the River Test. Built in 1815 and now a working museum, it is the oldest Silk Mill in the UK still weaving silk in its original building. Open to the public six days per week, visitors have the chance to learn about the history of silk weaving and see a small team of weaver tacklers wind, warp and weave beautiful, artisan cloth using traditional methods and historic machinery to keep critically endangered skills alive. We work with fine yarns to create a range of stunning artisan cloths using traditional techniques and historic machinery. We specialise in shot silk taffetas, twills, silk ribbons and silk linens.
