Wilba was set up in 2022. We are a non-profit organisation with one clear aim; to work alongside farmers and landowners to encourage and protect wildlife. Having grown up in the beautiful landscape of Radnorshire, an appreciation for nature is in our blood. We are passionate about making a difference that will ultimately benefit all. We are proud of our area’s important agricultural roots and feel strongly about working with the farming community to help our native wildlife flourish. A scarcely populated county, Radnorshire could become one big nature reserve or carbon capture zone, but there are communities and families living here that have been working hard for generations to produce food for us to eat. For realistic change we believe there needs to be a practical balance between nature and farming and we should create space for wildlife alongside food production. We don’t have a board of trustees or rely on government funding; we are taking grass roots action now. Starting wildlife friendly projects on working farms, with every penny of the money we raise going directly to the work needed. We’re not trying to save the world, we simply aim to work with farmers and other landowners to make small, practical, wildlife friendly changes on their land. We hope that each area of wetland left untouched, or hedgerow replanted will combine to make a lasting difference.
