Wildpalms

It is 2020 and we are going back to our roots, creating and curating exhibitions that align with our interests and questions. wildpalms – derived from the book The Wild Palms (1939 by William Faulkner) – was founded in 2014 by Jorge Sanguino (COL)+ Alexandra Meffert (DE), as an experimental project and alternative model for promoting cultural production as an open experiment at the intersection of private studio practice and exhibition. wildpalms strives to create unconventional and well-thought exhibitions and artistic projects, as art and culture are key elements of innovation, enrichment, a healthy society and joyful life. wildpalms has been going through phases (chapters) along the way, marking changes in our work, approach, and research away from formal questions of the art production and exhibition practice and diving more into creating content and discourses ourselves. We work closely with the artists, revisiting exhibition models and creating new formats. It implies a strong curatorial work, combined with the commercial strategies. This 2 way strategy is based on the following credos: 1. putting art and matter back in the centre of the cultural work and helping to create sustainability. the fundamental right of thinking the new, by looking for new forms of participation within the art system besides the established. pollination between the local and global level, through communication, exchange and collaboration. art and culture as key forms for societies of the future. joyfulness.
