Winicjatywa was founded in January 2012 by Poland’s two most esteemed wine writers and journalists, Wojciech Bońkowski & Marek Bieńczyk (co-authors of best-selling book Wines of Europe, 2003–2008). Marek Bieńczyk is the pioneers of Polish wine journalist with over 15 years’ experience. Wojciech Bońkowski, experienced international wine writer and judge also writing in English at and has been instrumental in all the major initatives on the Polish wine market of the last decade, including the printed Magazyn Wino (Deputy Editor 2002–2010), wine competitions and events as well as the Polish Vintners Convention, and has successfully campaigned for the recognition of Polish wine by the government in 2011. Together, Bońkowski & Bieńczyk decided to take their experience to a new level, and founded leading consumer wine website Winicjatywa in 2012.
