WireMITE is a fintech company incorporated in 2002. It developed digital platforms for international remittance, calling card reloading and charitable giving via retail POS, phones and online access. The founder John Burns’ 2009 article “Digital Currency for the Bottom of the Pyramid”, described how digital currency including the nascent Bitcoin would replace fiat currency and create a new transparency of exchange for the billions of unbanked. Wiremite integrated cooperative digital financial technology for small towns in Africa and Lebanon. Wiremite is currently scoping out online financial services that have superior accessibility and products for financially marginal and those living with disabilities using an open banking methodology.
