Women For Bees Namibia

Women For Bees Namibia (WFBN) is a group of women beekeepers and conservationists that supports the Beekeeping Association of Namibia, which is an umbrella body, with capacity building, sharing resources, data, and in several other practical aspects with complementary functionalities. We remain a separate entity as a civil society organization (CSO), a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is registered legally as a not-for-profit entity, focusing on actively supporting and promoting women, pollinators and the apiculture industry. For the past two years, we have been supporting women, reviving beekeepers and projects and strive to be a part of the international initiative for Women For Bees that will build networks, provide opportunities and take apiculture in Namibia to an international level. For this venture to bear fruit, we need to secure local support which has to date been the only drawback. We are an active women beekeeping group of more than 40 women that does practical training and gives support while our management team mainly focuses on events and projects for: • Creating awareness & training programs to protect pollinators for biodiversity • Research and environmental stability • Education & youth participation, practical & cultural development • Development of markets and products, poverty alleviation • Food security & woman empowerment projects with holistic agriculture approach to apiculture
