Women It Teleworkers

Women IT Teleworkers (WITT) helps immigrant women who are already internationally trained in IT skills and in addition they prefer to Work From Home. We assist them to find jobs with employers especially in the Ottawa region. WITT is the latest in a series of programs developed by the International Talent Acquisition Centre (In-TAC). Funding from the City of Ottawa in the spring of 2020 was the kickstarter to get WITT into operation. WITT has a unique guiding principle to connect tech company employers with immigrant women who already have international training and experience in IT and prefer to Work From Home. In addition we provide training to the Job Seekers to educate the in the best practices to be successful in working from home. In-TAC was created more than 10 years ago to be the lead organization for job-oriented programs running under the umbrella of the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre (OCCSC). In-TAC is Ottawa’s premier digital platform to link the global talent pool with employers in Ottawa. In-TAC operates Canada’s largest Virtual Career Expo and Job Fair. The Career Expo gave us plenty of experience in working with immigrant women seeking employment in Canada. In addition, we operated the Cultural Understanding and Empowering Women in IT (CueWIT) program that taught new immigrants with IT skills about being a better citizen and being a better employee. For more than 45 years the OCCSC has been helping immigrants of all kinds find a new life in Ottawa by providing a wide range of resources from housing, language training, childcare and much more. This family of operations are all non-profit, social enterprises. WITT will be donating a portion of revenus to Women's Shelters in Ottawa.
