Work At It

An increasing number of youths in our community grapple with a sense that they don't fit in, and are slowly drifting away from their peers and school. They come from a broad spectrum of socio-economic backgrounds, and may suffer from anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, or PTSD. High school dropout rates among these teens are spiking. Work At It is a grassroots organization founded 3 years ago that tackles the problem of youth-at-risk by addressing the practical. We help them find and recognize their unique talents, forging a way forward with structured days and increased optimism about their future. The existing community programs targeting this population offer emotional support and counseling, but fail to help them fill their days productively. Work At It provides workforce readiness and matches clients to jobs wherever possible. We provide skill and aptitude assessments, interview and job readiness skills, and educational roadmaps. Most importantly, we provide ongoing support and encouragement to foster success.
