Working For Youth

WORKing for YOUth is a business-led initiative to tackle youth unemployment in the UK. Our focus is simple: we want to help the business community create more jobs for young people. We’ve established the WORKing for YOUth initiative, which aims to create jobs by 2015 and provide advice and guidance to young people. WORKing for YOUth will also help fund SMEs to take on young people in a variety of entry level roles, from apprenticeships to graduate places through the creation of a jobs fund looking to raise £100m. We need your support. You can decide to contribute to one or a number of the areas below. i) Providing jobs for young people - already 56 of the UK's largest companies support us including Accenture, Aviva, Barclays, Hilton, Manpower, Debenhams, and Easyjet have pledged support. Our aim is to have more than 100 businesses signed up by 2015. ii) Help high growth SMEs employ young people - we will provide support to SMEs seeking to hire young people aged 16 - 24 gain employment through sustainable jobs rather than work experience. This will take place through a funding scheme set up by the SME fund. Virtually mentoring Young People - at present we have over 100 virtual mentors from across 56 corporate partners that offer advice and guidance to young people, do get in touch via our website if virtual mentoring is of interest to you.
