تم تأسيس مصرف العالم ( شركة مساهمه خاصة ) في 2016/3/1 وحصل على إجازة ممارسة الصيرفة وفق احكام الفقرة ( 1 ) من المادة 41 من قانون البنك المركزي العراقي رقم 56 لسـنة 2004 ، وقانون المصارف الاسلامية رقم 43 لسنة 2015 ، بموجب موافقة البنك المركزي العراقي — المديرية العامة لمراقبة الصيـرفة والائتمان المؤرخة في 2016/2/2. ولا زال المصرف يتخذ خطوات جريئة في ميدان الاقتصاد العراقي ، وهذا ما عزز مكانته كأحد أهم البنوك الإسلامية الحديثة في العراق.
