Write Away Magazine

Writers have a vital role in society. Their self-appointed task is to reflect on society, interpret society and offer different ways forward. Writers criticise, support, rage, differ, annoy and shed light on what needs to be highlighted. Write Away understands and supports these sentiments. Writers are people who must share their thoughts with others. A writer cannot be considered a writer if they have a readership of just one person. At times, writers may be accused of taking to their keyboards too soon; they need to write right away. Write Away Magazine is a platform for people who write about South African life, covering both domestic and international issues. Write Away Magazine is proudly guided by the South African Constitution, which is one of the most advanced in the world and which, hopefully, South Africans will grow into. These are Section 16 (1) that says Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, which includes the freedom of the Press and other media. Write Away Magazine believes that this section must be made use of every day so as to be upheld, defended and sustained. To put the point another way, Write Away magazine believes we must practice freedom of expression to keep the freedom alive. Write Away Magazine also proclaims Section 10, which says: Everyone has inherent dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected. Write Away Magazine thus sets out to publish writing that upholds freedom of expression and is always guided by upholding the dignity of other people.
