Xi Group Ltd is actively working to bring core DevOps values to a broader audience. We believe that DevOps is right path to build products and establish Ops teams. We've been practicing similar techniques over multiple projects with repeatable success over the last 15 years. We base our work on those key components: Operational process automation; Full-stack monitoring; Active feedback to the control plane; Automation is the way to address elasticity in modern cloud-based systems. Automation is the way to repeatability and control. We practice it and we practice it smart! Automation is commonly bound to scalability and provisioning, but not limited to those. Strong build process automations is prerequisite to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment paradigms in SDLC. Full-stack monitoring is a key component in any dynamic system. Monitoring should be system-wide and N-dimentional. Following system vitals is not enough in the elastic world. It should be cloud-friendly and understand the application architecture to be of any actual use. It can no longer be reactive. Monitoring should produce actionable information. Active feedback control plane operates on monitoring-generated data and utilizes the automation primitives to drive the overall system into desired state. And this control plane be reasonably simple or arbitrary complex. It is tied to the system specifics and requirements for scalability, capacity, reliability, availability.
