Yamamori – 30 Years of Japanese Cuisine, Culture & Community In August 2025, Yamamori celebrates 30 years of blending Japanese culinary traditions with Irish hospitality, cultural connection, and community spirit. Founded in 1995 by Derek Ryan, Yamamori began on South Great George’s Street. Inspired by his travels to Japan, Derek aimed to bring authentic Japanese food and warm hospitality to Dublin. What started as one restaurant soon became a place where people came not just to eat, but to connect and experience something special. Over the years, Yamamori has grown into a family of distinctive venues, each with its own atmosphere yet sharing the same heart. Yamamori South City (1995) laid the foundation with authentic dishes and a welcoming spirit. Yamamori North City (2007) brought casual energy and vintage charm to the north side. In 2011, we launched Yamamori Izakaya Japas & Sake, a modern take on late-night dining inspired by Japan’s vibrant izakaya culture, complete with a hidden bar offering an intimate, urban vibe. For three decades, Yamamori has been more than a restaurant—it’s been a place where food, culture, and people come together. We’re proud to have been among Ireland’s first Japanese restaurants and to have earned a loyal following built on authenticity, creativity, and warmth. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to what matters most: creating memorable experiences, sharing the spirit of Japan, and making every guest feel at home.
