Yellowbike has developed Clamp-IT, a bicycle lock designed to deter the opportunist bike thief. It is fitted to existing street furniture, operated via a user's mobile and is free to the cyclist. Clamp-IT’s markets are universities & colleges, train stations, hospitals, public sector buildings, private sector businesses and city centres. The unit is attached to standard Sheffield bike stands, displays a sponsor’s advertising area, secures the user’s bicycle with a large 12mm chain, and can be paid for by brand owners keen for name-recognition advertising. Clamp-IT is a security product, accredited to Secured By Design through Sold Secure (diamond bicycle) and IASMA IOT Cyber Insurance certification. Clamp-IT is design and intellectual property registered. Yellowbike sells installed locks with an option to lease over 3 years plus an annual maintenance agreement which guarantees that the lock is replaced if required. Proof of effectiveness trials will start at University Hospital Southampton in June 2024, at Fareham Station with South Western Railways, Oxford Brookes University and St Georges Hospital in London to follow.
