Agricultural gypsum is a mineral used to improve land and crops. CaSO4-2H2O (calcium sulfate dihydrate) has been used for centuries, both in Europe and in Greece and Rome. This comes to be in a soil amendment, proving to be able to give greater production opportunity to degraded sodic soils, significantly improving it. Pure gypsum is made up of 79% calcium sulfate and 21% water. Calcium sulfate contains 23.3% calcium (Ca) and 18.6% sulfur (S); It is moderately soluble in water (2.5 g/L), approximately 200 times greater than agricultural lime. Thanks to this advantage, agricultural gypsum far surpasses lime due to the ease with which calcium can move through the soil.
