Our company’s current achievements are the result of growth first began in another era under another name. 1948: Our History Begins With Ganado Telephone Company Established in 1948, Ganado Telephone Company was a rural Incumbent Local Exchange Service Provider that supplied voice and data communications services to South Texas businesses and residents of Ganado, Louise, and Markham. 1995: YK Communications Added as a Wholly Owned Subsidiary After partnering with GTE Mobilnet in 1988 to bring cellular telephone service to the area and then teaming with Hughes Communications in 1994 to develop DIRECTV, it became necessary to develop a new business unit to pursue and enhance these new communications technologies. YK Communications was established in 1995 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ganado Telephone Company to market and support our non-regulated business activities. 2014: Two Companies Unite Under One Name – YK Communications Effective September 1, 2014, Ganado Telephone Company began “Doing Business As” YK Communications.This name change was done to consolidate all services offered by our two companies under a single name to streamline marketing materials and create less confusion for customers.
