Ymca Weardale House

Education and Adventure at the heart of Weardale. YMCA Weardale House is a 68 bed residential outdoor education centre set in the heart of the North Pennines. Activities twe utilise to achieve our clients personal development objectives include; mine exploration, climbing and abseiling, canoeing, high ropes, team building challenges (and more). In 2012 we have catered for the needs of over young people from KS2 through to young adults. This included over 500 young people on National Citizenship Service. We are working towards seeing over young people through our doors in 2013. We are the trading arm of the Herrington Burn YMCA charity. We operate to create a surplus that can be used to support their work to improve the prospects of young people in the Coalfields area of Sunderland. Our mission is quite simple: to maximise the number of young people who can access, and thus benefit, from the outdoors. Our approach is equally straight forward: a good quality product, rooted in traditional outdoor education principles, at a very keen price point.
