Your Town Alabama

Formed in 1998, Your Town Alabama provides community leaders with critical tools for organizing, recruiting, and strategically developing community and economic development projects while retaining the things that make a small or rural town special. Design decisions can often make the difference between survival and decay, between healthy prosperity and decline. Your Town hosts an annual workshop each spring led by Planners, Graphic Designers, Architects, Engineers, Historians, Preservationists, and other professionals to expose community decision makers to asset-based planning techniques focusing on identifying ‘what is right’ within a community and building on those unique community assets. This 2-1/2 day experience encourages thinking creatively, trying new things, listening to good ideas, being heard, laughing, and meeting interesting people from all of Alabama. Your Town also partners with other grassroots-based Alabama nonprofits throughout the year to offer additional training, programming and networking opportunities for community leaders and change-makers.
