Youthdirect

Youthdirect was established directly in 2003 and has two main aims; training teachers in youth work and creating a socially safe environment for children and young people. One of the crowning achievements of Youthdirect has been the effect it continues to have on children and perhaps just as important, the effect it has on the school teacher. Our unique approach of bringing self esteem and its affecting issues back to the forefront of education has noticeably raised levels of accomplishment in school, teachers are thrilled at the success of their students who rather than needed to be pushed, needed the time and space to express themselves. Offering out of school clubs to young people and giving them the chance to actualise their own potential in their own time can pre-empt the problems we face with our youth today and create a pathway into a possible career opportunity. We currently run five separate sessions of the same activities to cater for the needs of our community. During a normal week, we can work with 60 – 200 young people.
