Local shopping – one billion consumers spending $10 trillion a year – remains one of the last bastions of consumer activity without an all-encompassing digital platform representing it. Picture: “One single, dedicated platform for local (and local-online) shopping. One with enough product content and retail store coverage to allow shoppers worldwide to instantly find | compare and/or then buy from virtually any goods being sold locally.” From a commercial perspective, the potential is so diverse and lucrative it’s almost impossible to estimate the full extent of its reach. Local retail’s affiliate marketing (sales commission) revenue pipeline alone is $1 trillion a year, for example (and still largely untapped). And then there’s Ecommerce, big data, cashbacks etc. And once you have this “local” consumer audience you can take them outside of retail and into any other local consumer offerings you desire: food, drink, travel. even energy, telco services.
