Zyxell Inc, headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, USA, is a cell science- and technology-based company. ZYX-Automatic Bioreactor, a highly efficient cell culture device, is the first product of Zyxell Inc, with which a series of relevant products have been well-developed. ZYX-Automatic Bioreactor comprises three main parts, a fully adjustable bioreactor, an unusual perfusion system and a computerized control system. Its unique design and programmable cell culture process endow it with many advantages over other bioreactors. It can be used for the culture of almost all kinds of cells, suspension cells, adherent cells or partial adherent cells. It minimizes the hydrodynamic shear stress on the cell, which does not only diminish cell damage during the cell culture, but also significantly reduces non-specific differentiation in stem cell expansion and non-specific protein release in protein production. Different programs have been or will be designed for optimizing the culture conditions for different cells. Therefore, it could be guaranteed that all cells will grow in their best conditions. Its cell density detector can report cell concentration in bioreactor at real-time. This function allows the control system to adjust the culture condition based on cell growth’s needs, so the cells can always grow in optimal condition. Its perfusion system allows that the continuing medium change can be done without losing suspension cells, culture cytokines and cell-secreted proteins. Thus, very high density of expanded cells and very high concentration of cell culture products can be reached with a relatively low cost. It has automatic cell sorting function. The cell sorting can be done before and after the cell culture, and even can be done during the culture if necessary. With this advantage, the target cells can be kept in the bioreactor for all cell separation and cultivation procedure, and thereby it greatly reduces the chance of contamination and target cell losing. It can provide adjustable niches for stem cell growth. It needs much less labor than common cell culture and reduces the man-made errors in operation. With over 20 years of research and development, more than 100 cell culture programs has been well-developed and ZYX Bioreactor has been demonstrated to be able to provide ideal cell growth condition for hematopoietic stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, hybridoma cells, T and B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, insect cells and many cancer cell lines and transformed cell lines.
