Downey Brewing Company

Downey Brewing Company was first conceptualized in the fall of 2013 and founded in 2014 by Dean Downey, Daniel Downey and John Downey. The idea stemmed from an ever-growing passion for brewing delicious beer and a unique opportunity of various skill sets and business synergy. The ethos of Downey Brewing Company have roots in the world of home brewing. Dean, with a background in chemistry, has been brewing beer since the early 90’s, and like many home brewer’s had aspirations of opening his own brewery one day. John started to brew beer while still a student at Michigan State and really jumped in feet first, taking a real interest in the process and art of brewing as well as the craft beer industry itself. With some practice, some self-education and a bit of talent delicious full flavored craft beers were produced and enjoyed by friends and family. Great beer being fundamental and necessary for a successful brewery it is far from a complete picture, or pitcher in this case. First and foremost a location is paramount, as operations need to move out from the home brew level to larger scale. As luck would have it, Irish being our heritage, a location of suitable size would present itself with an all in the family solution. Dennis Downey, father to Dean and grandfather to Daniel and John, just so happens to own a business and a building with some unused space. Being opportunistic John and Daniel would present the idea of Downey Brewing Company to Dennis and the request for the use of space would be granted at a price of $1 per year in rent. At this point Downey Brewing Company shifted from an idea to reality and the team would waste no time purchasing their first piece of equipment. Visit us at for the rest of the story

Michigan City is and always has been a beer town; a place where hard-working people would gather together to enjoy locally brewed, fresh beer. In 1871, Phillip Zorn arrived and started the P.H. Zorn Brewing Company in the Elston Grove neighborhood of Michigan City, Indiana. Zorn produced fine pilsners and lagers under the names Golden Grain, Grain State & others through 1938. In 2016, Zorn Brew Works Co was reborn as a craft brewery in the old "carriage house" and we are proud to continue the great beer brewing tradition in Michigan City. We are a 10bbl brewhouse with a production capacity of bbls/year! We currently produce “core” beers that are available year-round along with a rotating selection of seasonal releases and collaborations. We’ve recently opened a spacious, sq ft beer garden and are looking to expand our portfolio to meet the ever-evolving tastes of the craft beer community. Irrigation Ales

Irrigation Ales is one of the most "pivotal" breweries in the Midwest. Located in Courtland, KS (pop 294) and highlights the Kansas Bostwick Irrigation District. We feature eight taps of our own handcrafted beers and homemade root beer. We take pride in our agrarian ingenuity with a brewhouse made from retrofitted dairy tanks, irrigation pipe bar lighting, a semi-trailer turned cold room, and using local ag products in our beers from the Depot Market. We also feature other Kansas businesses with wines from Smoky Hill or Liquid Art and Dani & Dave ciders as well as non-alcoholic Morning Light Kombucha. Guests are welcome to bring in food from Adri's down the street or any other venue. We offer grab-and-go snacks like our in-house charcuterie boxes and hummus bowls along with a selection of chips and pretzels.
