Waar kurk vroeger hoofdzakelijk gebruikt werd als dichting en isolatiemateriaal hebben haar goede intrinsieke eigenschappen ervoor gezorgd dat het materiaal de laatste veertig jaar meer en meer gebruikt wordt voor een stijlvolle en doordachte aankleding van grote gebouwen en particuliere woningen. Kurk ontleent haar succes niet alleen aan de uitzonderlijke eigenschappen die het van de natuur meegekregen heeft, haar populariteit wordt fel in de hand gewerkt door de innovaties die gedurende de laatste twintig jaar plaatsvonden op decoratief vlak. Van naturelle kurkvloeren in enkele motieven en één enkel formaat evolueerde het uitzicht van kurk naar op maat geverfde kurkvloeren in verschillende motieven en formaten. Intussen kan kurk ook digitaal bedrukt worden en vindt het materiaal ingang in alternatieve bevloeringen als linoleum en vinyl om haar goed isolerende eigenschappen. Kurkfabriek Van Avermaet heeft deze evolutie altijd op de voet gevolgd en haar uitstekende contacten in de kurkwereld hebben er steeds voor gezorgd dat de laatste ontwikkelingen op een prijsgunstige wijze tot bij de eindconsument gebracht werden.

Belgian business EcoNation has developed the ‘LightCatcher’, the first active and intelligent daylight system in the world. The Lightcatcher can provide enough light for 100% of the floor with only 1% tot 3% of the roof space of a building opened. The system also allows light fittings to be switched off for up to 3.650 hours per year, which has an eight times bigger impact on the environment than solar panels. This new business model can lower EcoNation clients’ energy cost immediately without any upfront investment. LightCatcher is now used in 15 countries in both industrial and public buildings. The ecological footprint of the LightCatcher is 6.17 times smaller than traditional alternatives such a skylights.

Alpha Beton is a precast concrete plant, founded in 1990 located in Sankt Vith. Our delivery radius covers Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and France. Initially specialising only in precast concrete slabs, we quickly expanded our product range and we also produce concrete double walls, solid walls, columns, beams and other special parts. In 2010, we developed PAMAflex, our patented (BE & EU) product concrete wall. PAMAflex is a component series for future-oriented, ecological and sustainable building. It consists of prefabricated concrete elements with a high level of insulation especially for passive and zero-energy houses. In 2013, PAMAflex won the "Belgian Building Award 2013" in the innovation category, awarded by the Confederation of Construction.
