Shelton Community Center - Shelton Parks & Recreation
Shelton Parks and Recreation is a community-focused department that offers an array of activities and events for all age groups and is responsible for the care of public parks and fields. A large network of parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities, including a Community Center and pool, plus a diverse offering of cultural and athletic activities, help enrich the lives of Shelton residents. There is no need to look further than the Shelton community to satisfy one’s leisure time needs. Operating out of the Shelton Community Center, the department oversees programming for both children and adults and focuses on fitness and fun. In addition to classes, memberships are offered for both residents and non-residents who wish to utilize the indoor pool, fitness room, and gymnasium. Room rentals are available at the Community Center for those looking to hold meetings or parties. Outside of the Community Center, the department hosts popular community events such as the Music Under the Stars Summer Concert Series on Huntington Green and the annual Shelton-Derby Fireworks Show at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Shine A Light Foundation Lv
Shine A Light is a 501(c)3 non profit homeless outreach and placement service that helps the hundreds of homeless men, women and children in the greater Las Vegas area. Our primary focus is individuals who live in the underground flood channels of Las Vegas. The program prides itself on going into the depths of the storm-drain system and engaging this underserved, hidden population on a personal level. Shine a Light offers Instant Placement with Access to Treatment and Housing (IPATH) to all clients that we come into contact with or that reach out for help. We have partnered with our local safety net providers to ensure that they are able to receive help the moment they ask for it. True to our roots, we also dole out much-needed supplies, including bottled water, food, socks, flashlights, headlamps and AA and batteries. We are committed to ensuring that the continuity of support doesn’t stop once placement is obtained. Our comprehensive Case Management program is designed to walk each client that chooses to participate through two years of services, from the point of contact through all individual stages of the re-entry process. The goal is to ensure that there is no reason to ever feel like anyone has to recidivate back to their previous situation.

The Butterfly Effect Project
The Butterfly Effect Project is a nonprofit, community-oriented organization started by Tijuana Fulford. It was Tijuana’s goal to start a program that would empower young girls by giving them the tools to achieve emotionally stable and self confident futures, in hopes of bringing forth a generation of women who are strong, independent and knowledgeable. The Butterfly Effect Project aspires to ensure that every girl enrolled in the program has a fair chance to broaden their horizons by eliminating obstacles such as mobility, cultural differences and finances. The Butterfly Effect Project started on March 8, 2014 with 8 girls that came from Riverhead and Flanders areas. The program has grown to over 500 girls (and boys) from Riverhead, Flanders, Calverton, Mastic, Shirley, Bellport, Westhampton, Peconic, Patchogue and West Islip in 17 different chapters. Participants attend chapter meetings in Riverhead, Bellport, Northville, Flanders, and Aquebogue. Meetings happen every other week throughout the school year, and are focused on four key areas; healthy relationship development, self-care, confidence building, and critical thinking. We also partner with schools, and implement a modified version of our curriculum adapted to best serve the students we are working with for a 40 minute period. We have partnered with Peconic Community School, Riverhead Charter School, Pulaski Street School, Aquebogue Elementary School, Riley Avenue School, and Phillips Avenue School. We expose our youth to diverse activities and experiences, which help mold and challenge their minds while promoting academic success, hard work and self-confidence. The Pelican Project
Stacey Pearson founded The Pelican Project in 2024 to further her mission of empowering child protection advocates. She funds the project through outside donations and sales of her fine art photography, turning two of her passions into actionable philanthropy. The Pelican Project supports national child protection programming with a particular focus on missing, abducted, exploited, homeless, and emergency-fostered young people in Louisiana. The Pelican Project’s mission and namesake are only fitting. For centuries, the pelican has represented charity, sacrifice, and protection of the young. According to ancient legend, mother and father pelicans wounded themselves to feed or revive their chicks with their own blood, and this imagery is commonly found in the stained glass and sculptures of both Protestant and Roman Catholic churches. The pelican’s nurturing and protective nature enthralled the European settlers of Stacey Pearson’s home state of Louisiana, and the state adopted the “pelican in her piety” image for its seal in 1902. The Pelican Project is a private, donor-advised fund administered through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. Monetary contributions to The Pelican Project are tax deductible, and acknowledgment letters are provided for donations of $250 and above.

The Teachers’ Lounge seeks to drive unprecedented student outcomes by greatly diversifying the people, thoughts, and actions of the educational workforce in the Greater Boston Area and beyond. By removing the transactional nature and physical barriers associated with many recruitment fairs, The Teachers’ Lounge serves as a space for educators of color, and friends, to convene monthly to learn about opportunities and resources available to them. Community partners, including school districts, service providers, and guest speakers, are encouraged to attend several events each season, in service of creating lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial to our community and institutions.
