Refinery
Refinery combines expertise from two radically different industries to bring an entirely new approach to the conservation of historic woodwork. Our unique partnership pairs expertise in 3D scanning, digital modelling and CNC production with conservation consultancy and highly skilled traditional hand carving and joinery. This pairing of two distinctly different practices employs digital technologies to support and elevate traditional process, rather than attempt to replace it. As a result, our unique workflow harnesses the powerful new capabilities of digital production, while fully retaining the vital authenticity of fine traditional craftsmanship. Our approach has been met with instant enthusiasm and we are now working on a number of significant conservation projects in wood. The result is a revolution in possibilities, efficiency and reliability while fully retaining the authenticity of a completely hand carved finished, produced to the highest standards of craftsmanship and underpinned by an in-depth knowledge of conservation practice.

Sussex Dolphin Project
Sussex Dolphin Project is committed to protecting local dolphin species through research, awareness and education in the local community. The project’s research is evidence-based and captured via the Sussex Dolphin Project Citizen science programme. We aspire to work collaboratively with organisations and individuals to create a sightings network and aim to increase opportunities for residents to get involved with marine conservation by providing affordable training. Our research objective is to identify individual dolphins/pods, in order to better understand their behaviour, movement, prey species and breeding sites. This data can then be used to protect our marine environment and ultimately safeguard Sussex marine mammals. As part of our overall mission, we also seek to highlight the importance of a healthy marine environment and encourage action to protect local marine life and habitats as evidenced through the Dolphins Aren’t Discard Campaign developed with our partners at the World Cetacean Alliance to stop dolphins dying in Supertrawler nets.

Big Blue Foundation
Oceans produce half of the oxygen we breathe and remove almost a third of all carbon emissions from our atmosphere. They provide food security for almost half the planet’s population, enable global trade worth more than £400 billion, and provide employment for millions of people. Yet marine life is becoming endangered at an accelerating rate due to pollution, habitat loss, ocean acidification and industrial overfishing. Without significant change, UNESCO predicts more than 50% of the world’s marine species may face extinction by 2100. Our Mission Big Blue Foundation is dedicated to reversing biodiversity loss in our ocean. Placing coastal communities at the forefront of our work we empower future conservation leaders to drive positive change and create healthier oceans for all.

Green Burial Holdings Ltd
Yggdrasill Burial Ground is managed by Green Burial Holdings Ltd. The registered company directors (Rupert Granville, Tim Simpson, Joseph Mann and Hugh Foster) started working on our Ethical Burial project in 2020 and are incredibly passionate about the issues and ethics that underpin an environmentally responsible and principle-led burial ground. This subject affects us all on so many important levels and forms a significant part of the legacy that we hand to our children. We believe in transparency, so let's start with this: our company (Green Burial Holdings Ltd) is registered at Companies House; our registered company number is 13645381 and our registered address is Unit 26g, Springfield Commercial Centre Bagley Lane, Farsley, Pudsey, England, LS28 5LY. Green Burial Holdings is the company that manages our ethical burial sites. We sell burial plots, caskets, woollen shrouds, and trees native to the area. Our site is located in a beautiful setting that our customers can be assured will be managed following our ethical principles in perpetuity. An ethical burial is a way of burying human remains that seeks to have a positive environmental impact. The idea behind ethical burial is to allow the body to decompose naturally without using embalming fluids, hardwood or any other material or chemical that can harm the environment. As cremation is inherently bad for the environment, ethical burial does not permit the scattering or interment of ashes. Typically the body is wrapped in a biodegradable shroud or placed in a biodegradable casket made of wicker, bamboo, wool, or cardboard. The burial site is in a natural setting, such as a meadow or forest, rather than a traditional cemetery. Ethical burials may also involve planting native trees, shrubs, or wildflowers on the burial site to create a natural memorial. Overall, the goal of ethical burial is to return the body to the earth in a way that is sustainable and respectful of the environment.

Key Biodiversity Areas
The diversity of life on Earth—the entire array of plants, animals, and their habitats, collectively known as “biodiversity”—is essential for a healthy planet where all life can thrive, including humans. But the loss of biodiversity is occurring at an alarming rate across the planet. Key Biodiversity Areas, which are among the most incredible and diverse places on Earth for nature, from deserts to the middle of the ocean, are sites of global importance to the planet’s overall health and the persistence of biodiversity. The Key Biodiversity Area Partnership – an ambitious partnership of 13 global conservation organizations – is helping prevent the rapid loss of biodiversity by supporting nationally led efforts to identify these places on the planet that are critical for the survival of unique plants and animals, and the ecological communities they comprise.

Bamff Wildland
Bamff Wildland is a pioneering family-run rewilding project in North East Perthshire. Twenty years since beavers began unravelling and reimagining our waterways, we are turning over farmland to nature in perpetuity. Ecological restoration at Bamff began in the early 1990s with the re-creation of wetlands through reverse drainage schemes and the planting of various native woodlands. This was followed in 2002 by the pioneering introduction of beavers. At the start of the 2020s, we initiated a catalysed rewilding project to create a richly biodiverse area of wild land out of 180 hectares of marginal farmland and plantations. The long term aim is to allow all of this land to become self willed – a self regenerating mosaic of dynamically evolving habitats and their associated wildlife species. This happens by putting nature back in charge and ultimately withdrawing the influence of humanity: to rewild. In 2022, we began working in partnership with 10 neighbouring landowners to restore waterways on a wider landscape scale, through a new project called Braes of Alyth: Wild Cores and Corridors. This pioneering work will create new 'corridors' of nature-rich habitat weaving through two sub-catchments of the River Isla, reconnecting biodiversity 'cores' such as Bamff and fragments of ancient woodland within an actively farmed landscape. By remeandering straightened channels and restoring woodland cover over denuded streams, we will support the participating landowners to revive biodiversity and deliver natural flood mitigation alongside existing land use.
