Connecticut River Watershed Partnership

Formed in 2005, the Connecticut River Watershed Partnership (CRWP), formerly known as the Friends of Conte, is a diverse coalition of over 75 public and private organizations, agencies, and individuals dedicated to forging partnerships that benefit wildlife, people, and environmental quality in the Connecticut River Watershed. CRWP provides a forum and foundation for organizations of all sizes and types with varied missions related to the watershed, including land trusts, watershed associations, federal and state agencies, regional planning commissions, tribal organizations, municipalities, and other interests. Southwestern Resource Conservation & Development

Resource Conservation and Development Councils are authorized by the United States Congress and then organized as 501c(3) organizations so that local citizens can develop and carry out a proactive plan for social, economic, and environmental betterment of their own communities. Southwestern NC RC & D Council is 1 of 10 councils in North Carolina and 1 of 375 in the United States. Our RC & D Council works closely with local governments, but is a stand alone non-profit organization. Currently we have a staff of eleven including an Executive Director, Administrator and program support specialists helping USDA deliver Farm Bill Programs. Through grants and service agreements, we have a consultant team that works on many agricultural, forestry and natural resource projects. In addition, our capacity is expanded greatly by partnering with County and State agencies and other non-profit organizations. We are active members of the North Carolina Association of RC & D Councils, the Southeastern Association of RC & D Councils, and hold a Director’s position on the National Association of RC & D Councils.

Wildcare Oklahoma

WildCare provides people a place to bring native wildlife struggling to survive with the goal of releasing healthy individuals back to nature. WildCare admits and treats over 7,500 wild animals of over 240 different species annually. Most of our wild patients have been injured or orphaned as a result of human activity as they try to cope with increasing urbanization of their natural habitats. Common reasons for admission include being hit by cars, attacked by cats and dogs, shot, window collisions, poisoning, yard work accidents, and unnecessary trapping. WildCare has 250-850 patients in care at any given time and is open to admit new patients 365 days a year. WildCare is supported entirely by donations from caring individuals like you. Making a contribution will help ensure that there will always be a safe place for Oklahomans to bring wildlife in need.

Oregon Department Of Land Conservation And Development

The Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) is a small state agency. We work in partnership with local governments, and state and federal agencies, to address the land use needs of the public, communities, regions, and the state. The Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC) provides policy direction for the land use planning program and oversees DLCD operations. We help carry out the vision and legacy of Senate Bill 100, which for 50 years has contributed to the quality and character of the natural and built environment of the state. 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Department of Land Conservation and Development, the Land Conservation and Development Commission, and the signing of Senate Bill 100. The program has been charged by the Legislature with managing urban growth; protecting farm and forest lands, coastal areas, and natural resource lands; and providing for safe, livable communities in concert with the vision of the local communities. Under the statewide land use planning program, each city and county is called upon to adopt and maintain a comprehensive plan and an implementing zoning code consistent with 19 statewide planning goals. Recognizing that each city and county has unique values and aspirations, our job is to provide planning guidance and technical assistance to help communities plan for their future while considering the needs of the region and the state. Helping cities and counties address these functions in the context of a wide range of state and local interests requires that we be problem solvers. The department’s mission reflects this active role.
